Two picture-postcard riverside villages on opposite sides of the Thames

Goring and Streatley

We often refer to Goring and Streatley as the twin picture postcard villages. This is not at all fair, they both have different characters and feel, but sit at either end of a bridge over the Thames which spans a lock and weir. Streatley on the left bank as you head upstream, is home to somewhat grand houses, the Swan hotel (now with Coppa Club Bar) and St Marys Church often used as wedding venues.  Goring on the right bank has somewhat more winding streets and a more cottage feel. With various pubs and eateries between them, this is a great cruise destination for lunch or boarding point for a wedding reception.
