‘Hop-on-Hop-off’ Reading to Goring Boat Trip

New for 2017 15th July & 12th August. We are offering a hop-on-hop-off boat trip from Caversham in Reading to Goring with stops at Mapledurham Lock, Beale Park Wildlife Park and Goring (with easy access to Streatley). Join the boat for one hop, two hops, a return or the entire trip. An ideal trip for walkers, cyclists or those looking for a real day on the river or just a trip to Goring for lunch. More dates may be added depending on demand.

Goring & Streatley


Our final destination is Goring & Streatley where, subject to river traffic, you should have around 1 3/4  hours ashore to explore, grab a pub lunch or even set off by bike back towards Reading and meet us at Mapledurham. For a vistor’s guide to Goring & Streatley click here

Walk, cycle and explore the Thames between stops


Walk a section of the river, dart off into nearby countryside or use the service as one way bike transport. The first stop at Mapledurham Lock puts you in a perfect position for using the Thames Path to walk or cycle to Pangbourne where you can cross the toll bridge to Whitchurch and then continue on to Goring. The boat will stop at the Beale Park Riverside landing stage, there is a walk to the main entrance and you can purchase tickets for the wildlife park, a hit with children and families. Learn more about Beale Park here

  • This service runs July 15th and August 12th
  • You can choose one hop, multiple hops or an entire journey
  • Each leg of the journey is one hop
  • For Caversham to Mapledurham you need one hop
  • For Caversham to Beale Park you need two hops
  • For Caversham to Goring and Streatley you need three hops
  • Return tickets are one hop and back eg. A one-hop return will get you from Caversham to Mapledurham Lock and back
  • All of our boats have a bar with soft drinks, hot drinks and alcoholic drinks as well as bar snacks.
  • Our boats are equipped with full central heating and toilet facilities.
Disabled/Limited Mobility Access
  • All our vessels carry ramps to assist with wheelchair access and our staff are trained to assist. We try hard to accommodate all guests as comfortably as possible but we advise you give us a quick call in advance so we can discuss which vessel will be operating a specific service and what is possible.
Travel & Directions
  • The boat will leave either our Caversham Promenade or Pier boarding point in Reading. They are next to each other and located to the rear of the Crowne Plaza Hotel near Reading Rowing Club. The postcode for sat nav use is RB1 8BD
  • There are public car parks located to the rear of the rowing club (1-2 minutes walk) and about 5 minutes walk away
Terms & Restrictions
  • We ask that you book in advance for this trip.
  • Space for bikes is limited to only those who have reserved a bike space.
  • Children of any age are welcome on board, our boats meet all safety requirements but we do ask that parents and responsible adults take care of their own children.
