River Trips

The Pangbourne Cruise

This river trip departs from our Caversham Pier base and will sail up-river entering Mapledurham Lock (an additional request boarding point). The lock transit provides excitement and interest for children and adults alike. From Mapledurham we will sail the unspoilt reach to Pangbourne Meadows mooring just before we reach the Whitchurch Toll Bridge (which makes a good picture as it spans the river).  This is a great chance for young and old to explore the scenery, spot wildlife and get afloat on a cruise that lasts about an hour and a half. As with all our cruises, there will be a full bar on-board.

The village of Pangbourne has tea rooms, pubs and shopping, for those wanting a relaxed day the meadows are a prefect pic-nic spot and you will have time for a riverside walk before our return. Pangbourne station offers a connection to Reading for those going one way.

Departure Point

All cruises will depart from Caversham Pier, boarding at Mapledurham will be from the lock or layby and disembarkation at Pangboure Meadows is adjacent to Adventure Dolphin. There is a public car park next to the Adventure Dolphin centre and a footpath from there to the river. You will find a Boat Stop sign marking our departure point on the riverside at the Pangbourne stop. The vessel will be clearly marked as Thames Rivercruise.

Wheelchair Access

Our fleet has a variety of accessibility levels and the boarding point at Pangbourne Meadows is a grass river bank accessed from a footpath. Several of our boats are flat decked with good access and are wheelchair friendly however some boats used for this cruise are multi-deck and have stairs for access with limitations on door widths. We recommend giving the office a quick call on 01189 481088 to discuss your requirements and we can advise on the best options for you or your guests and confirm which vessel will be in use on a certain sailing.
