Nestled by the Thames with its own working mill, this country house is not to be missed. The riverside location is captivating, and for the first time this year we are offering a joint ticket that includes a 45 minute boat trip, parking, access to the grounds of Mapledurham House and an indulgent cream tea.

This trip leaves from Mapledurham House, you will need to make your own way to Mapledurham and the tickets include parking.

Explore the grounds of Mapledurham House and village or to take a walk in nearby woodland & countryside. Cream tea is served in the Mapledurham House cafe and is home made on the day.

Home made cream tea includes fresh locally made scone, Cornish clotted cream with jam and of course a perfect brew.

Choose from three sailings every Sunday. All tickets include parking and access to the grounds & gardens of Mapledurham House.

On the day you can also get discounted tickets to visit the inside of the house and watermill.

This service runs most Sundays from 7th May until the end of September. Book early to avoid disappointment as this is a popular outing to while away a relaxed afternoon with family.

The Details

General Information
  • This service runs most Sundays from 7th May until the end of September and we do ask you to book in advance.
  • You can choose from three sailings every Sunday.
  • Tickets include a 45 minute boat trip, parking, access to the grounds of Mapledurham House and a cream tea.
  • Cream tea is served by Mapledurham House in their tea rooms.
  • All of our boats have a bar with soft drinks, hot drinks and alcoholic drinks as well as bar snacks.
  • Our boats are equipped with full central heating and toilet facilities.
Sailing & Boarding Times
  • There are three sailings on each Sunday, at 14:00, 15:00 & 16:00 hrs.
  • Boarding of boats will start up to 10 minutes prior to the sailing time and should you miss that sailing we can not guarantee there will be space at an alternative time.
  • You are welcome to have tea before or after your cruise but we do ask you to choose the time of your sailing when booking.
Disabled/Limited Mobility Access
  • Cream tea is served by Mapledurham House in their tea rooms, there is a level walk from the boat and parking to tea rooms, house and gardens which is at least 300-400 yards.
  • All our vessels carry ramps to assist with wheelchair access and our staff are trained to assist. We try hard to accommodate all guests as comfortably as possible but we advise you give us a quick call in advance so we can discuss which vessel will be operating a specific service and what is possible.
Travel & Directions
  • Mapledurham is a working country estate close to Reading and easily accessed from the A4074 Caversham to Oxford road.
  • There is parking on site, for which you will need to show your e-ticket or printed ticket on arrival to gain access.

Terms & Restrictions
  • We ask that you book in advance for this trip.
  • All tickets include parking & grounds access. You can purchase an access pass for the house and mill on the day at a discounted price of £7.50 per adult and £6.50 for an OAP, (children under 16 get free entry to the house and mill)
  • Children of any age are welcome on board, our boats meet all safety requirements but we do ask that parents and responsible adults take care of their own children.
