Henley River and Rowing Museum depicts the history of the river, life on it and around it, perfect all ages. Alongside exhibits there are currently feature sections on Clangers, Bagpuss & Co (only until 4th of June) and John Piper one of the most popular British artists of the 20th C.

The ever changing landscape of the river is packed with wildlife, riverside homes and passing boats. Navigating four locks and under the infamous Sonning Bridge you will get a real feel for life on the river

This is a full day out most suited to adults and children keen to learn. The boat departs from our pier in Caversham at 10:15 and we expect to arrive in Henley around 12:30. You then can visit the museum spend time ashore in Henley or if you have booked just for one way, the train and Thames path are near by. We leave Henley at 15:00 and expect to be back in Reading between 17:00 and 17:30

General Information
  • This service runs on 31st May, 14th June, 2nd August and 16th August
  • The boat is scheduled to depart Caversham at 10:15 and should arrive in Henley around 12:30 (dependent on river traffic)
  • Tickets including access to the museum are at a discounted rate and need to be purchased in advance
  • All of our boats have a bar with soft drinks, hot drinks and alcoholic drinks as well as bar snacks.
  • Our boats are equipped with full central heating and toilet facilities.
Sailing & Boarding Times
  • This service runs on 31st May, 14th June, 2nd August and 16th August
  • The boat is scheduled to depart Caversham at 10:15 and should arrive in Henley around 12:30 (dependent on river traffic)
  • Boarding of boats will start up to 15 minutes prior to the sailing time
  • The return cruise will depart Henley at 15:00 and depending on river traffic should arrive back in Caversham between 17:00 and 17:30
Disabled/Limited Mobility Access
  • All our vessels carry ramps to assist with wheelchair access and our staff are trained to assist. We try hard to accommodate all guests as comfortably as possible but we advise you give us a quick call in advance so we can discuss which vessel will be operating a specific service and what is possible. The river and rowing museum is a modern building and has been designed with wheelchair access in mind.
Travel & Directions
  • The boat will leave either our Caversham Promenade or Pier boarding point in Reading. They are next to each other and located to the rear of the Crowne Plaza Hotel near Reading Rowing Club. The postcode for sat nav use is RB1 8BD
  • There are public car parks located to the rear of the rowing club (1-2 minutes walk) and about 5 minutes walk away.
Terms & Restrictions
  • We ask that you book in advance for this trip if at all possible, there may be limited tickets available on the day of departure.
  • Every effort will be made to maximise your time in Henley and the museum but we can not guarantee the arrival time in Henley
  • Children of any age are welcome on board, our boats meet all safety requirements but we do ask that parents and responsible adults take care of their own children.
  • There is a small chance in severe flood conditions (very unusual in summer) that our boats can not pass under low bridges. If this is the case we will naturally offer a refund or the chance to re-book on an alternate sailing
